Beautiful, isn’t it? This is my hometown. I grew up seeing the buildings and roadworks expand and develop to a unique and wonderful masterpiece. But that isn’t the end of it, every once in a while they would always replace (though it isn’t broken) the old and unpleasant-looking highways and buildings. Here’s a brief history of Kuwait:
Kuwait, officially the State of Kuwait (Arabic: دولة الكويت Dawlat al-Kuwayt ), is a sovereign Arab state situated in the north-east of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia. It lies on the north-western shore of the Persian Gulf and is bordered by Saudi Arabia to the south (at Khafji) and Iraq to the north (at Basra). The name “Kuwait” is derived from the Arabic أكوات ākwāt, the plural ofكوت kūt, meaning “fortress built near water”. The country covers an area of 17,820 square kilometers (6,880 square miles) and has a population of about 2.8 million. (via: wikipedia)
Kuwait isn’t a very famous country, so you guys would probably have a hard time searching for interesting facts, other than history, that you may use during home works, presentations, projects and others. I might be doing you guys a favor *wink*wink*
1. Number 1 fattest country in the world
Early 2013, It was announced that Kuwait beats US to second place on the “World’s Fattest Country” list. I, myself, am shocked with this news. Yes, I do see many obese adults and sometimes kids when we go to the mall or the grocery store or when we hang out on a weekend but I didn’t think that this was all it took to beat US. I mean, US is a big country with many outlets of fast food chain stores while Kuwait is pretty small but yes, it also does have many connections to fast food. Mabrook, Kuwait!
2. Pepsi beats Coke
Simple as this: Coke beats Pepsi internationally but only in the Middle East does Pepsi beat Coke. I did notice that whenever we go to restaurants or in the bakala, the waitress/waiter would ask you what drink you would be ordering, it doesn’t really matter ’cause you either say Pepsi or Coke, they give you Pepsi. It’s automatic. And in bakalas, they have more stocks of Pepsi than Coke.
3. Highest Valued Currency

4. Largest Fireworks Display
On November 12 2012, Kuwait marked its Constitution’s 50th Anniversary with outraging fireworks! With the cost of nearly KD 4 million, featuring about 77,000 fireworks, they earned the place of “The largest fireworks display” in Guinness World Record.
5. 14th Richest country

That’s it, actually! Thanks for visiting my blog.
